Abstract

I describe the nest and eggs of the Spillmann’s Tapaculo (Scytalopus spillmanni), found in a moist montane forest in the Western Andes of Colombia. In appearance and construction, the nest resembles others described for Scytalopus, being a globular structure with two white eggs inside. The nest was found in a subterranean cavity. This is the first description of a nest and eggs of S. spillmanni; there are now four species of the genus in Colombia for which such descriptions have been published.
