Predation of a marsupial by an Andean Motmot (Momotus aequatorialis)
Keywords:
Andes, predation, small opossum, Micoureus, Momotus aequatorialisAbstract
I document for the first time the consumption of a marsupial in the genus Micoureus by an Andean Motmot (Momotus aequatorialis) based on observations made in a montane forest in the Cordillera Central of Colombia. Although consumption of small vertebrates by Andean Motmot had already been reported, the prey documented here is the largest known for the genus Momotus.
