We present the first records for Colombia of Bangsia arcaei and Chrysothlypis chrysomelas, with photographic and specimen documentation. These species were recorded in 2008 on the eastern flank of Cerro Takarkuna of the Serranía del Darién (Unguía Municipality, Department of Chocó). Individuals of the two species were observed in mixed canopy and subcanopy flocks in montane forests above 1200 m. These records not only expand the known ranges of both species, previously re-ported from Costa Rica to Panama, but highlight the lack of knowledge of the upper elevation avifauna of the Serranía del Darien in Colombia.
