Abstract

The genus Myrmotherula is a polyphyletic group that includes a complex of species with ecological, behavioral and morphological differences. Little is known about the reproductive aspects of Mymotherula and little information exists on the reproductive behavior and the characteristics of the nests and eggs of the species. We present the first detailed record of the nest and eggs of Cherrie’s Antwren in Colombia and some aspects of reproductive behavior. The nest was a deep cup of fungal rhizomorphs and vegetable fibers with a few dry leaves in lower part and contained two cream-colored eggs with purplishred spots concentrated toward the large end. Additionally we review the available information on nests and eggs of the genus Myrmotherula.
