We present the first records of the White-faced Amazon (Amazona kawalli) in Colombia, a species considered endemic to Brazil until now. Several individuals were observed and photographed in Acaricuara and the urban area of Mitú, Vaupés Department. The closest previous records are more than 330 km southeast than those described in this note. Based on a compilation of records, we conducted a preliminary spatiotemporal analysis of the species’ distribution that did not reflect regular seasonal movements. It is likely that this species was either considered to be aberrant individuals of the Mealy Parrot (Amazona farinosa) or confused with their juveniles. Our records invite not only to further research on the ecology and conservation of this bird in Colombia, but to keep exploring the eastern extreme border of the country.
