We report the first record of the Rufous-bellied Seedsnipe, Attagis gayi (Thinocoridae), in Colombia. In July 2021, we observed three individuals in the páramo of Chiles volcano, department of Nariño, and we obtained evidence through photos, videos and recordings of their vocalizations. We plotted the access route to the locality of the record, described the habitat, pointed out the distinctive field marks that allowed us to conclude that it corresponds to the subspecies A. g. latreillii until now considered endemic to Ecuador. This finding represents the northernmost known locality for the species in South America and adds the Thinocoridae family to the Colombian avifauna.
