Four new species for Colombian avifauna in the northeastern Andes

Tamá National Natural Park, located on the eastern slope of the northeastern Colombian Andes, has been a key site for biodiversity analysis; however, studies focused on its avifauna remain limited. In recent years, findings of great importance for both the region and the national inventory have been documented, including taxonomic novelties, distribution expansions, and previously unpublished records. In this work, we present the first reports for Colombia of four species, as well as a new record of a swift for the department of Norte de Santander. These findings, which include both previously unpublished records and national distribution expansions, underscore the importance of continuing the exploration and documentation of the local avifauna. This contributes to scientific knowledge and strengthens conservation and biodiversity protection efforts in Tamá.
