We present the first record of the Yellow-faced Siskin (Carduelis yarrelii) for Colombia, based upon a male photographed on 7 September 2006 in eastern Casanare Department. The species inhabits northeastern Brazil, but there are three records in northern Venezuela 3500 km to the west, possibly corresponding to escaped cage birds; however, the individual we observed showed no signs of having been caged. Due to persecution for the pet trade, the species is considered threatened in the category of Vulnerable. We recommend further studies in extreme eastern Colombia to obtain more information about this species in the country.
